What is Firewise?

Firewise USA provides a collaborative framework to help neighbors in a geographic area get organized, find direction, and take action to increase the ignition resistance of their homes and community and to reduce wildfire risks. Any community that meets a set of voluntary criteria on an annual basis and retains an “In Good Standing Status” may identify itself as being a Firewise Site

Why Should I care?

Because it could save you money and it will keep you safe! Communities which are Firewise certified are not only safer, but many times they may offer discounts on homeowner's insurance. How Can I Help?

Donated time is the key to our success. Firewise requires community members to spend time doing the yeoman's work of fire preparedness, within your own community. Work like flammable shrub removal, tree-limbing, chipping, and pine needle removal are all examples of fire preparedness. At AgateBayFirewise.com we organize community events to enable this work. When you attend an event, or do work on your own property, keep a log of the time you worked which is related to fire mitigation. Then report that time to us at AgateBayFirewise.com. We will report your time and effort, and it will be used toward our annual Firewise accreditation.
